Reflow
Demo Path
A straightforward SMT demo setup for South African electronics teams who already know the process and need to show the line properly.

Live board route through reflow
Demo Path sets out a clear machine sequence for showing an SMT line with an actual PCB moving from placement to oven exit. It suits electronics teams who need visitors to see feeder loading, conveyor direction, profile stages and unload handling without turning the bay into a display area.
Begin the demo brief with the actual board, planned run window, and any site condition that can influence oven stability or handling. Johannesburg dust, Durban humidity, Cape Town salt air, load-shedding schedules, and courier cut-off times all affect how a Demo Path should be set out. For walk-in demonstrations, a live pass through print, placement and reflow usually gives visiting engineers more usable detail than another static handout.
Capture the line condition before power-up, including machine positions, board supports and the oven entry area. A quick record of feeder banks, stencil ID and first sample status helps when the same demo cell must be reset later for another visitor group or internal review.
Outputs from the demo setup
The result is a route that shows where each step happens, what operators should point out and which checks matter during the run. Teams leave with line notes that tie the board, profile and handling method together, so the demonstration reflects normal SMT practice rather than a scripted walk-through.
Link Demo Path with the matching Reflow note and a Board notes entry before adding extra machines or alternate boards. Check labels, reel IDs, profile records and packed samples again before dispatch. SMT line enquiries should name the board type, the placement volume and the machines already on the line.

Site conditions that affect demos
South African demo planning often has to fit around OR Tambo freight timing, shared industrial units and visitor access windows at working electronics sites. Many teams are presenting from established SMT cells, not empty new installations, so board changeover time and operator availability need to be stated early.
Near the coast, salt air and humidity can shorten cleaning intervals and make moisture-sensitive handling more important before a heat cycle. On inland sites, dust build-up can interfere with sensors, feeder covers and inspection points. Power interruptions also matter, especially when first-article evidence must be captured before a restart.

Information needed before the run
Send board photos, machine list, timing window and any known faults or workarounds on the line. Include the oven model, paste type and whether the demonstration uses a production board or a sample panel.
File the Demo Path notes while the machine sequence is still fresh. Add the sheet to the project record with any profile printout, sample photos and operator observations requested by the buyer or technical team.
