Warranty Note

A warranty note for South African electronics work, setting out what equipment, parts and line interventions are actually covered.

How Warranty Note is used on an actual week

The Warranty Note sets out what is covered when SMT equipment, parts or line work is supplied through SMT SA. Use it to check which items fall under warranty and which site conditions or handling issues sit outside that cover.

Record the machine model, serial number, and the failed item before any parts are removed. A useful warranty note also states whether the issue appeared at installation, during production, or after a stoppage caused by power loss. In South African electronics workshops, dust inland and salt air at coastal sites can matter when damage is assessed.

Add clear photos of the affected area, the full machine, and any alarms shown on the screen. Include the date, board type being run, and what operators did immediately before the fault appeared. That information helps separate a component defect from handling damage, setup error, or site power conditions.

Warranty evidence to capture

A complete note should show what item is claimed, what failed, and what checks were done on site. List any replaced consumables, fuse checks, air supply checks, or software messages seen by the team. Good records reduce confusion where feeders, nozzles, sensors, or motion parts are involved.

Use the Warranty Note together with service records for the same machine when you write in through the contact form. State whether the item supplied was equipment, a spare part, or line work carried out on site. Include one concise description of the fault and the installation condition.

  • Machine model and serial recorded
  • Fault timing logged against production
  • Photos attached with failure details

Site conditions affecting cover

Warranty decisions often depend on how the equipment was installed, powered, cleaned, and operated. Note if the machine is at a Johannesburg contract manufacturer, a Durban coastal plant, a Cape Town assembly room, or a smaller inland site with frequent dust ingress. Courier damage, storage conditions, and unstable mains supply can all change what is covered.

Where compressed air is used, write down the regulator setting and whether moisture was present in the line. If a feeder, camera, conveyor, or heater zone is involved, mention any earlier repairs or operator adjustments made before the report. For line interventions, identify exactly which section of the SMT process was worked on and what changed afterwards.

Before sending a claim

Use this Warranty Note to record machine photos, failure timing, and the repair steps already attempted. Keep the subject line plain and accurate.

Check that the note matches the invoice item, machine identity, and the actual failed part. Remove vague wording and replace it with dates, alarm text, and visible symptoms. When buyers or technicians review the file later, those details make the warranty position much easier to follow.
